May 23, 2024 (Mount Prospect, Ill.) – CTLGroup, an internationally recognized engineering, architecture, and materials science consulting firm announced today that five of its staff members have been promoted. Dean Adams, Sarah DeFrancesco, Sushruth Keval, Alethea Muno, and Pavan Vaddey, Ph.D., P.E. have all exhibited exemplary performance at CTLGroup.
Dean R. Adams was promoted to Senior Consultant. He has a vast amount of experience with consulting and evaluation of materials that include concrete, terrazzo, ceramic tile, resilient flooring covering, self-leveling underlayment, and epoxy coatings. He represents CTLGroup at ASTM on Committee F06 on Resilient Floor Coverings, Committee C16 on Thermal Insulation, and Committee C11 on Gypsum and Building Materials. Adams has been a member of CTLGroup since 2007 and has been involved in a variety of projects during his tenure including condition evaluation, forensic investigations, litigation support, and preconstruction risk management. His responsibilities have taken him all over the world. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in 2003, and master’s degree from Ohio University in 2014.
Sarah DeFrancesco has been promoted to Chemist II at CTLGroup. DeFrancesco joined CTLGroup in 2022 and has excelled in chemical analysis of cementitious materials and wet chemistry techniques. She has taken on quality assurance responsibilities and oversees instrument maintenance and procurement for the chemistry department. DeFrancesco ensures prompt chemistry department testing turnaround times and client satisfaction are met. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and Master of Education degree from Loyola University Chicago.
Sushruth Keval has been promoted to Associate II at CTLGroup. Keval joined the company in 2022, and conducts building envelope evaluations, research and condition assessments of architectural and structural components, and investigations of damage to structures from accidents, catastrophes, construction defects and other adverse conditions. His project experience includes façade inspections, non-destructive testing methods, building energy assessment, public and residential properties. He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University.
Alethea Muno has been promoted to Petrographer II at CTLGroup. Muno joined CTLGroup in 2023 and has excelled in the petrographic analysis of construction materials, including concrete, aggregates, and masonry. Her detailed examinations have provided valuable insights into material performance and deterioration mechanisms, supporting the development of effective remediation strategies. Muno is a member of ASTM International and the American Concrete Institute (ACI), organizations that promote standards and best practices in materials testing and construction. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science, a B.S. in Geoscience, a Sustainability Certificate, and an M.S. in Geoscience, from the University of Iowa.
Pavan Vaddey, Ph.D., P.E. was promoted to Senior Engineer. Dr. Vaddey has over seven years of experience in characterization and assessment of Portland cement concrete systems, experimental data visualization and interpretation, statistical analyses and modelling, and represents CTLGroup on the ACI committees 213 (Light weight aggregate and concrete), 222 (Corrosion of metals in concrete), 365 (Service Life prediction), and 357 (Offshore and marine concrete structures). His expertise lies in designing concrete mixtures for various field applications, concrete troubleshooting, and providing solutions for enhancing concrete durability. Dr. Vaddey earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University in 2020 and earned his professional engineer licensure in 2023.
