Thermal Decomposition

Thermal analysis is an essential materials characterization technique, where the properties of materials are studied as they change with change in temperature. Whether you are examining cementitious materials or polymers and coatings, thermal analysis provides a wealth of data and delivers complimentary and supplementary characterization information to other commonly used materials characterization techniques.

CTLGroup is equipped with multiple thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) instruments to accommodate a wide range of material types and quantities.  In addition, our laboratory houses a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) that can provide information about thermal behavior (exothermic and endothermic reactions), chemical reactions, and physical processes.  Our highly experienced scientific experts can help you with standardized testing, quality assurance, or any complex material investigation including failure analysis.

Thermal testing includes:

  • TGA/DSC Polymeric Materials Analysis
  • TGA Inorganic Carbon
  • TGA Organic Carbon
  • TGA/DSC Inorganic Materials
  • Loss on Ignition
  • Free Moisture Content
  • Sulfate Form and Content by Thermal Analysis (DSC)
