Understanding Air Barriers

Within the built environment, one of the leading causes of reduced energy performance, poor interior air quality and occupant discomfort can be attributed to breaches or defects in the air barrier system of the enclosure.

An air barrier is an environmental separator within a building enclosure that is designed to resist uncontrolled air passage between interior and exterior spaces of a building.
